Ryan George

Ryan Philip George is one of the founders of thistourlife.com. Ryan holds a BFA from Temple University. He got his start in the music business at the CenterStaging Philadelphia office in 2001, where he became well-versed in all aspects of backline. Shortly thereafter, he accepted his first tour gig as a keyboard/computer tech on Beck’s Guero tour. Since that time, Ryan’s career has consisted of full-time touring for such artists as Jack White, Sigur Ros, Arcade Fire, MGMT, Death Cab For Cutie, Macklemore and more. In 2014, he collaboratively introduced a new perspective on the touring world via thistourlife.com.

Currently, he helps curate as well as contributes research-supported articles focused on the touring lifestyle and regularly gives talks at industry-related conferences on the subject of healthy touring. He continues to exhaustively explore, experiment with, and implement ways to improve quality of life on tour and at home. He also earned his National Academy of Sports Medicine CPT certification in January.

Dr. Chayim Newman

Dr. Chayim Newman holds his PhD in Clinical Psychology from Yeshiva University. He completed his Residency at London Health Sciences Centre and has worked in numerous respected clinical settings including: New York Presbyterian Hospital, Montefiore Medical Center, The Albert Ellis Institute and Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. Dr. Newman has trained under dynamic mentors including: Jon Kabat-Zinn, Dr. Ray DiGiuseppe, Dr. Kristene Doyle, Dr. Steven Hayes, and Rabbi Eytan Feiner. He has studied mindfulness and meditation disciplines with several of this generation’s preeminent teachers. Dr. Newman regularly delivers lectures and seminars on stress management, meditation, and mind-body health.

Dr. Newman’s clinical practice focuses on the use of a variety of therapeutic modalities (CBT, ACT, Mindfulness, traditional psychotherapy) in the treatment of mental health and stress-related disorders. Having been involved in the entertainment industry for over two decades, as a touring performer, event producer, and artist liaison, Dr. Newman possesses a first-hand understanding of the unique challenges and stresses facing artists and touring personnel.

Vance Zemon

Vance Zemon received a B.S. degree in physics from Clarkson College of Technology (presently Clarkson University) in 1973 and graduate degrees in experimental psychology from Northeastern University in 1976 (M.A.) and 1979 (Ph.D.). Following a National Institutes of Health postdoctoral associateship in the Laboratory of Biophysics at The Rockefeller University (1979-1982), he held positions of research associate and assistant professor at that institution from 1982-1992), and then served as a member of the adjunct faculty there. Since 1992, Vance has held the position of associate professor and then professor in the Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine campus of Yeshiva University, where he teaches systems neuroscience, physiological psychology, perception, and statistics. In addition, he is a consultant at the Nathan Kline Institute for Psychiatric Research in Orangeburg, NY, and he serves on the Scientific Advisory Board and Institutional Review Board of Blythedale Children’s Hospital in Valhalla, NY. He is a consulting editor for several journals.

Tim Beitz

Tim Beitz is a designer, communication strategist, and creative technologist, and one of the founders of This Crew Life. Scheduled to launch in 2020, This Crew Life is a mobile app that connects artist management, tour management and technicians to job seekers in all aspects touring, including backline, lighting, video, audio, and other venue roles.

Tim studied computer science, visual art, and psychology at Rutgers University and holds a BA in graphic design and psychology. He’s worked closely with various non-profit organizations as well as branding, advertising, and digital interactive studios. He has created projects for consumer product companies, non-profits, and higher education clients that involve business strategy, art direction, design, and development and end-to-end project management. Clients include Nike, UGG Australia, The Kellogg Foundation, The University of Florida, and Colgate University.
