In an effort to reinforce the importance of community and help curb some of the anxiety being felt in the music industry, Backline co-founder and clinical director Zack Borer (LMFT) and THRIV (Tour Health Research Initiative) co-founder Dr. Chayim Newman is hosting an online support group today (Tuesday, March 17) for artists, performers and people in the music industry, including agency, management, labels, promotion, etc.

“In times of uncertainty, the natural human reaction is a spike in anxiety and panic,” Dr. Newman told BeatRoute. “One thing that helps moderate that anxiety is community, the reminder that we’re not alone in it. And the music community is facing a unique and added layer of uncertainty, as the livelihood and raison d’etre of so many are linked to live performance and touring, which has been shut down worldwide for maybe the first time in history. Humans are hard-wired as social beings. When we lean into that, it can lower our anxiety and help us to move easier through the upheaval.
